Here is an interesting item from Robert Preidt, writing in Medicine Net, about the benefits of vigorous exercise for senior men.

The study, which followed seniors for about nine years, found a significant reduction in stroke risks for men who did vigorous exercise, while there were no significant such benefits for women.

The study included almost 3,300 men and women, average age 69, in Manhattan who were followed for about nine years. During that time, there were 238 strokes among the participants. At the start of the study, 20% of the participants said they did regular moderate-to-high intensity exercise, while 41% said they did no physical activity.

For those of us who wish to improve our health and increase the likelihood of being to live out our years with a degree of independence, a sensible regimen of exercise and a sensible diet may go a long way to accomplishing those objectives.
