Administration Shifts Health-care Emphasis to “Insurance Reform”
Uncategorized November 17th, 2009
Given the difficulty that the Obama administration has had in promoting its health care proposal, it’s not surprising that they would try a different tactic. According to this article from NPR, the administration has decided to employ new language, emphasizing “insurance reform” as the central feature of any new legislation.
As Senate Preps For Health Debate, Public Remains Divided – Shots – Health News Blog : NPR
NPR describes the current state of affairs in the health-care debate, including the fact that 39 percent of Americans strongly oppose the proposed changes. The public remains divided on Obama’s idea of health care, and the sentiment seems to be running more strongly against enacting the proposals put forth thus far.
Seniors who are interested in maintaining a high degree of independent living should be interested in any health care proposals coming out of the administration that might affect their ability to make health-care decisions in their own best interest.
Many of the actions that seniors must make in maintaining their independence cannot be paid for by health insurance providers — be they public or private insurers. The best resource for independence comes from one’s own decisions and planning rather than bureaucrats in government and insurance corporations.
