Here’s an interesting item. While the economic woes makes it more difficult to invest in capital for new business, one industry is booming: personal emergency response systems. The Detroit Free Press reports that while investment is down overall in Michigan, at least one company specializing in PERS systems is going strong. Check out the link below.

More than three-quarters of Michigan’s venture capital investments in the third quarter went to three companies. Farmington Hills-based Critical Signal Technologies Inc., a provider of personal emergency response systems for senior citizens, obtained $11.1 million from Seneca Partners Inc. and an undisclosed firm.
