Budget Problems in Virginia May Affect Lynchburg Independent Living

Retirement Age – Will It Continue to Go Up?

Age for retirement has been going up in recent decades. European countries are following our lead in this and have begun to think about raising their retirement ages.
We don’t need to fear this, really. As medical science continues to make progress (especially in the area of DNA diagnosis and therapy), life-spans will get longer. As we live longer, we will need to work longer.

More Budget Woes Affect Seniors — This Time, New York

New York State has certainly had its difficulties in recent years. A governor who was forced to resign under a cloud of scandal was succeeded by another governor who immediately butted heads with legislators of his own party about New York’s debt. And now that governor has very nearly been forced to resign.
But despite the political and personal scandals of New York politics, the budgetary dilemma remains real, and the governor and legislators will be forced to deal with it.

Mercury in Tuna? Maybe, Maybe Not

According to MedicineNet.com, a recent report says that more than half of samples of brand-name tuna contained too much mercury. That’s according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
On the other hand, the same report showed that only five percent of tuna samples exceeded the safety levels for mercury set by the Food and Drug Administration.
